ABGSL STING 12U GAME NEWS

Sting goes 2-1 in Hayward.

Saturday 6/27

Game 1: Sting 19, Fremont Flyers 0, 3 innings

Lena Mayer shot down the Flyers, pitching 3 innings of stellar softball.

In the 1st inning Sting led off with 18 runs! Lena, batting lead off, walked and scored 3 times. Carlin Hudson went 2 for 2, scoring 3 times. Sydnie Hersh hit a single, walked and reached base on an error scoring 3 times. Faith Valdez had 3 hits and scored twice. Sara Cerami singled and walked and scored. Ciello Franco singled and scored, Imani Hiller hit a double and single and scored twice. Megan Foley singled and scored twice. Muriel Rosenberg singled, walked and scored twice.

In the bottom half, Lena K'd the 1st 2 batters, and the 3rd popped up to Sydnie(1b) for the last out.

Sting was scoreless in the 2nd, but Imani blasted her 2nd double of the game.

Lena again shutdown the Flyers offense in the bottom half with another strikeout and a great running catch by centerfielder Maggie Gallagher.

In the top of the 3rd Sting scored an insurance run when Carlin hit a single, Claire Simpson beat out a grounder to 3rd for an infield hit, and Ciello hit a single scoring Carlin.

Lena struck out the side with the help of Carlin Hudson's great catching to end the game.

Game 2: Sting 1, Pleasonton Phantom 15, 4 innings

Carlin Hudson was the starting pitcher, with Sydnie Hersh in relief.

The Phantom came out strong in the 1st inning scoring 3 runs on a single and 3 walks. Sydnie Hersh(1b) fielded a grounder for the 1st out. Sara Cerami(2b) and Ciello Franco(SS) both caught fly balls for the 2nd and 3rd outs of the inning.

In the bottom of the 1st Sting did not score despite a single by Ciello.

In the top of the 2nd the Phantom scored 6 more runs.

Sting scored their only run when Faith Valdez leading off reached base on an error and scored on a single by Sara.

The Phantom scored 6 more in the top of the 3rd, but were shut down in the 4rth inning when Ciello(SS) through out a runner to Imani at 1st base. Faith(3B) threw out a runner for the 2nd out and Ciello caught a fly ball for the 3rd.

In the bottom of the 4rth Sting was shutdown again, but Imani hit a single.

Game 3: Sting 6, Oaklan Vipers 7, 8 innings

Sydnie Hersh pitching, and Carlin Hudson catching, Sting lost a close one in extra innings.

In the 1st inning, the Vipers took the lead 1 to nothing, despite some great put outs by Ciello Franco(SS) to Imani Hiller(1b).

In the top of the 2nd Sting scored 4 runs. Sara Cerami had a lead walk and moved to 3rd on a single by Imani. Maggie Gallagher hit a single scoring Sara. Mariel Rosenberg singled scoring Imani. Julia Rosenberg hit a sacrifice scoring Maggie. Carlin walked and stole 2nd. Ciello singled and scored Mariel.

The score stayed the same until the 5th inning, when Ciello Franco reached base on an error and scored on a single by Faith Valdez.

In the bottom of the 6th, the Vipers struck for 2 runs on a single and 3 walks. With 2 minutes left on the clock the game went to the 7th inning where the Vipers scored 2 more to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

Maggie started the inning at 2nd on the international tie rule. She stole 3rd and scored on a sacrifice by Julia R.

In the bottom half of the inning Vipers won the game on a hit bats man and a double to center.
