The Bat-A-Que is coming - our big ABGSL party and fund raiser - with great team prizes this year! On Saturday May 3rd (or May 10th if it rains - but that's not on the schedule this year) we will see the entire league at Fielding Field for our fifth annual Bat-A-Que. On this one day we will have team photos, a barbeque, an opportunity to thank our sponsors, and our big fundraiser batathon. We have had huge success over the past several years, and hope to have an even bigger success this year.

For general Bat-A-Que info, please read on. Or jump directly to the schedule of events or the schedule for teams.

Great Team Prizes!

As in prior years, all teams whose girls together raise $1,000 or more will receive $40 towards a team ice cream party. Back from last year, any team raising $2,500 or more will receive tickets for the entire team plus three adult chaperones for a day at Discovery Kingdom (formerly Marine World), and all teams raising $1,800 to $2,499 will be entered into a raffle for one of those teams to win the same trip!!!!!!

Girls Sponsor Forms and Prizes

Sponsor forms were delivered to coaches and managers by April 12th. Please make sure your daughter gets her form, and begins to solicit sponsors right away. To speed the registration process and make things run more smoothly, we are using duplicate forms. Please make sure both copies are legible by helping your daughter record her pledges on a hard surface. If your daughter is missing a form, she can get a new form and envelope from her team manager. Be sure your daughter brings her completed forms and envelope to the Bat-a-Que on May 3rd, along with any money she has collected in advance.

All girls who participate in the batathon will receive a free picnic lunch, an ABGSL water bottle with our special new 2008 Bat-A-Que Logo (designed by coach Dawn Nakashima of Nakashima Fine Arts ), a free raffle ticket, and a free dunk tank ticket for a chance to dunk her coach!

Girls who raise enough in individual sponsorship will earn special prizes:

$100 collected
earns a special Bat-A-Que 2008 Logo T-shirt
$200 collected
earns a T-shirt OR a Bat-A-Que 2008 Logo Sweatshirt
$250 collected
earns a T-shirt OR a Sweatshirt OR a softball lesson from Coach Angie (choose among a batting, pitching, or fielding lesson)

Teams will earn $40 towards an ice-cream party if the team as a whole collects at least $1,000 in individual sponsorships. Any team raising $2,500 or more will receive tickets for the entire team plus three adult chaperones for a day at Discovery Kingdom (formerly Marine World), and all those teams raising $1,800 to $2,499 will be entered into a raffle for one of those teams to win the same trip.

ABGSL promotional wear will be available for purchase the day of the event--we will also have special Bat-A-Que 2008 Logo T-shirts and Sweatshirts for sale - it's ABGSL's 25th Anniversary! Individual prizewear will be distributed before the end of the season by team managers.

Photo Day

In addition to the batathon, May 3rd will also be League Photo Day. All teams are assigned times for taking team (and individual) photos. Photos will be available for distribution by managers before the end of the season, along with trophies. There is an opportunity for families to order extra copies and special photo packages at the event--photo order forms will be distributed by your manager about 1 week before Bat-A-Que.

Picnic/Games/Dunk Tank/Raffle

We will also have a picnic lunch, free to girls who are participating in the batathon, and available for purchase by family members and friends. The day will also feature live music, games, and a raffle, AND... the always popular Dunk Tank will be back. If you have any softball related items you may be interested in contributing for use in the raffle, please contact Lori Simpson at lasimpson@treadwellrollo.com
