Bat-A-Que is now over! This was our big ABGSL party and fundraiser and will took place on Saturday May 1st at Fielding Field. On this one day we had team photos, a barbeque for all (free for all girls who participate in Bat-A-Thon), an opportunity to thank our sponsors, and our big fundraiser Bat-A-Thon.
NEW THIS YEAR:
We will have 2 (count them two!) dunk tanks. This will mean extra dunking of all your favorite coaches.
We will have an expanded food menu (can you say pulled pork and steak sandwiches?)
We are working on new and exciting games for the girls to playMore details will follow in the upcoming weeks, including information about pledge forms, schedule, and raffle prizes.

Girls Sponsor Forms and Prizes
Sponsor forms will be delivered to coaches and managers this week. Please make sure your daughter gets her form, and begins to solicit sponsors right away. To speed the registration process and make things run smoothly, we are using duplicate forms. (Please make sure both copies are legible by helping your daughter record her pledges on a hard surface.) Be sure your daughter brings her completed forms and envelope to the Bat-a-Que on May 1st, along with any money she has collected in advance.
All girls who participate in the Bat-A-Thon will receive a free hot dog lunch, an ABGSL water bottle with our new 2010 Bat-A-Que logo, a free raffle ticket, and a free dunk tank ticket for a chance to dunk her coach!
Girls who raise significant amounts through sponsorship will earn special prizes:
- $100 collected - earns a t-shirt
- $200 collected - earns a t-shirt OR a sweatshirt
- $250 or above collected earns a t-shirt OR a sweatshirt OR a softball lesson from Coach Katie Vickers (choose among a batting, pitching, or fielding lesson).
Teams will earn $40 towards an ice-cream party if the team as a whole earns at least $1,000.
Teams that earn $2500 or more from sponsors will receive tickets to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (for all girls and 3 adults).
Because we have special Bat-a-Que t-shirts and sweatshirts, prizes will be distributed before the end of the season by team managers. ABGSL promotional wear will be available for purchase the day of the event.
Photo Day
In addition to the Bat-A-Thon, May 1st will also be League Photo day. All teams will be coordinated to ensure adequate time for both activities. The schedule for the team photos and bat-a-thon will be distributed at a later date.
Photos will be available for distribution by managers before the end of the season, along with trophies.
Picnic/Games/Dunk Tank/Raffle/Sponsor Recognition
We will also have a hot dog lunch, free to girls who are participating in the Bat-A-Thon, with an expanded food menu available for purchase by family members and friends. The day will also feature live music, games, and a raffle, and we will take time to thank our sponsors AND... the always popular Dunk Tank will be back. More details to come. If you have any softball-related, or other, items you may be interested in contributing for use in the raffle, please contact Lori Simpson as noted below.
Volunteers
If you signed up to volunteer for the Bat-a-Que you will be contacted by our Volunteer coordinator who will let you know your job assignment for the day. Shifts are 4 hours each (8:30 - 12:30 a.m. and 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.) Some volunteers will assist later with prize distribution; prizes are distributed to team managers over Memorial Day weekend.
