MICRO DIVISION

Andronicos Flying Racoons vs. The Jane Hammond Events Spotted Snakes     (split squad)
Talia Gelfand and Sydney Harris of the Flying Racoons both got base-hit  grounders to knock in runs, while Grace Noonan made a nice stop at third base.  Skye Frank hit the ball into the outfield, and made an out defensive out at first base.  Esme Segall also had a nice stop at first and got on base with a fabulous hit!

Zo Pancost had a huge game for the Rubies at bat, hitting to the outfield in three of four at-bats (the fourth didn't make it only because it hit the game’s toughest hard-luck player, Jennifer Lee, who continued to play after after being hit by the line drive and after  being hit in the face by her own foul ball.  All the Rubies successfully hit off live pitching instead of a tee.  Daisy Paige of the Snakes had the longest hit for the Snakes, doubling past
the pitcher and into center.

The Red Rubies made three swift defensive outs in the top of the first, despite strong hitting by the Racoon's Lucy Thompson and Blaze Goldstein, who each hit blazing grounders to first.  Allison Hersh made a jumping catch at second to end the second inning, and Emma Mink and Emma Goldarte's power hitting over the infield lines carried the Rubies through.  The Rubies showed marked improvement in hitting, fielding and small ball strategy over last week's game.  

YOUNGER DIVISION

Alliance Graphics Cardinals 16, Berkeley Orthodontics Mighty Molars 18
Avery Rasband's two bases-loaded RBI singles highlighted the Mighty Molars victory. Teammate Taylor Kempf also knocked in a run when bases were loaded.  Melina Fike beat a close throw to first for an RBI single in the first inning, and then followed it in the second with another RBI single hit along the third baseline. Mia Loretto made a fine defensive play on the mound, then made a nice throw to first.  Gillian Monahan-Miller had 2 base hits for the Molars.  The Cardinals showed a great defensive effort between pitcher Samantha Ulloa and first basewoman Elisabeth Wing.  Another fine defensive play was made by pitcher Hannah Morse, with an unassisted out at home. Samantha  and Hannah followed up their defense with two singles, while Elisabeth scored in the third by beating a throw to home.  The Cardinals offense was rounded out with two singles and two RBI's by Kate Henderson, and by Emily Federspiel's leadoff single in the second.

Title IX Butterflies 20, Five Little Monkeys 14
It was a crisp, sunny morning on the field but the bats were sizzling for both teams. The Monkeys started out swinging with Mina Reoutt-Swaback, followed by Millecent Samson-Eves' line drive past third base. The Butterflies batted through their entire lineup in the first, featuring several nice hits, including a double by Ja'Seena Duckworth . In the second, Monkeys' Sadie Cooper hit a nice bunt and Ellie McDougald hit one over first to get on base. The Butterflies Ivy Galanis hit to third, followed by an Anne Mugler hit.   Nory Klop-Packel made a made a good effort throw to second. The Butterflies continued to dominate with by Lillie Benson, Layla Souza, Asia Brantley, Grace Schafer-Perry, Shelby McDonald and Delany Whitaker. The Monkeys had their share of hits by Elizabeth Schafer and Anisa Armstead-Brown, and Raina Pinkosh.  Monkeys’ Helen Thomas-McLean made a great effort to snag a ball in the outfield, while Ella Bartlett made a nice play at first. 

MIDDLE DIVISION

One the Beam "Orange Crush" 10, Arkin Tilt Architects "Phantoms" 2
After an inning and a half of close defensive play, in which Phantoms' Lily Dawson prevented extra bases with a great effort in center field, the Phantoms broke the scoreless game with key hits by Erin Cain and Raleigh Williams.  With the bases loaded and two strikes, Mia Rubin came through with a clutch hit line drive to center field, scoring Faith Noonan and Erin.

But the Orange Crush proved to be too good to stop.  Strong defensive plays at pitcher and three at short stop, including two by Shira Baskind, held the Phantoms to two runs going in to the third inning.  That's when with the Crush came on strong, with clutch singles by Maddie Valdez, Alison Radke, and an RBI Single by Eliza Murley to tie the game. Bailey Kobelin put Orange Crush ahead with a two run single to end the inning. Orange Crush scored six more runs in the fourth innings, which the Phantoms could not match.

In a close defensive match-up, the two teams played four scoreless innings. Excellent pitching and fielding from Phantoms Derby Gill, Adi Saaf, Mia Rubin and Sarah Isen held the Grass Stains scoreless.   The Grass Stains' Bonnie Coulman had a great pickup at first for an out in the third inning, and again for the third out to end the inning.  She also beat out a single in that same inning. Amanda Klopp had a hard hit to hird in the second inning, but a quick throw just beat her to the bag at first.  Yasmine Alston hit a single in the third and in the fifth, and played well as the catcher.  Griffin Campbell stepped wide to spear a throw for an out at first base in the first inning, and hit a hard single to the third in the fifth.  Tayah Blanck  had two singles for the game and slid home for a run in the fifth.

Albany Physical Therapy JackRabbits 10, Impact Fund 2
Kayla Elmendorf got the Jackrabbits started with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first.  In the second, Kayla doubled and scored on another double by Amelia Galbraith.   Rachel Ng recorded two outs at first base in the third, one on a grounder that she fielded and another on a throw from pitcher Hannah MurraySkye Salas had three hits on the day and Isobel Woodfin had a double in the third as the Jackrabbits scored four times.


OLDER DIVISION

Strategic Economics Fresh 10, Friedman-Brueggemeyer Aftershock 7
The Fresh jump-started the game when Emma Gadberry legged out an infield single in her first at-bat.  Fresh players Angel GonzalezClaire ShellemJane Hoff and Carlin Hudson also slammed singles into the field, for an impressive four RBIs in the first inning. The Aftershock also scored in the first inning when Catey Hoehn slid across home plate on a steal, followed by Christeen Lewis and Colleen Hamilton-Lacky.  In the second, Fresh's Hoff slammed a double up the third base line to score two runs. Aftershock's Lewis made a quick-thinking throw to teammate Hamilton-Lacky at first base to stop the Fresh momentum with the third out. Aftershocks' Hannah Feiner, Alejandra Zeiger, Lewis and Hoehn each scored in the second inning after numerous successful steals. The Fresh rallied in the third, highlighted by Gonzalez' RBI and Gadberry's impressive steal to home. Aftershock Kelia Human singled in the third, straight down the third base line. Fresh player Shellem's 2-run double capped off an exciting and well-played game.

 

Zonta Ghostbusters 9, Prins Chiropractic Prickly Porcupines 9
Prins started with a strong offense with great singles from Isabel Daniels, Erin Hoynes, Julia Foster and Rio Barrer-Cain, getting four runs.  Zonta rallied, also scoring four despite Erin's great defensive play on the mound, tagging out a runner trying to steal home.  Second inning highlights included a solid hit by Kafiya Mohamed and the Prins hustling around the bases, while second baseman Sierra Lee attentively tagging out a runner at second who stepped off the bag.  In the bottom of the second, the Prins held the Ghostbusters to only two runs, one on a nice RBI by Claire Simpson.  In the top of the third, strong pitching with two strikeouts, bolstered by strong defense with a runner tagged out trying to steal third, shut out the Prins.  In the bottom of that inning, the Ghostbusters scored two to tie, with aggressive base running by Kennedy Grant, and RBIs from Hannah Herman and Sydnie Hersh.  However, Prins held the game to a tie with a clutch out by Emily Cain.

INTERLEAGUE

San Marco Bruisers 10, San Lorenzo Louis Auto Body Repair 9 
The Bruisers held on for the victory in a thriller held at windswept San Lorenzo Community Center Park.   The Bruisers opened strong with four runs in the first on RBI singles from Faith Valdez, Nora Killian, Roma Nawy,  and Natalie Burns.  The same four had RBIs in the third as the Bruisers took an 8-2 lead.   In the field, Imani Hiller-Bateau turned in two sterling plays at first base, stretching to take a throw for the first out, and snaring a low line drive for the second.   Fine fielding plays were turned in by Roma on a fly to center, Julia Sparer on a line drive to second, and Faith on another liner to first.  Lena Mayer, with Nora on loan to the Bruisers to fill out the team, pitched two strong innings and drove in a run.  Maggie Gallagher drilled one past third for the Bruisers final run.  In the last of the sixth, with the Bruisers ahead 10-9 and the bases loaded, Faith struck out two San Lorenzans and induced a comebacker which she played to home for the final out and a satisfying victory for the ABGSL team.
