The Andronico's Golden Eagles played the Cardinals and Funky Monkeys in split squads on a warm day. Against the Cardinals, Uma Navarro hit well and made a great stop of a hard-hit grounder. Kate Henderson also batted well, getting solid hits in every inning. Elisabeth Wing fielded several grounders and made some great throws to first, as well as hitting some solid flies. Lillian Weitzer got in good hits including a line drive in the third inning, and fielded well with some strong throws to first from third base. Against the Funky Monkeys, Kayla Richmond hit well and turned in some great defense as well.

The Impact Fund Huskies dominated the first inning of the game, anchored by strong defense. Husky pitcher Angela Fike twice corralled sharply hit grounders, then raced to home to record force outs. On the offensive side, Lucky Charm Alison Radkey blasted a strong single, with Griffin Campbell, Melia Palioca and Lily Weiner-Mock each knocking in a runner. In the second inning, Husky pitcher Sofia Campos-Seligman scooped two hard bouncers, each time throwing gems to Tara Steckler at first, who gloved both, as well as another throw from second to record all three outs. The second-half Lucky Charm defense was anchored by Grace Rusin, who made solo outs while playing both third base and pitcher. Weiner-Mock, at left center, quickly turned on a grounder, throwing it to second base for the out. In the final inning, Husky Tatiana Jellinek pounced on a slow roller down the first-base line then dashed to the plate for the force out. Jellinek also made a statement with her bat, sending all three of her hits into the outfield, including a second-inning power drive just inside third for a double. Her teammate, Silvana Montagu, beat out two infield singles on her way to three RBIs for the day. Additional offensive magic was added by Esther Karpilow, racking up two RBIs, one coming from a beautifully placed single that rolled just inside the third base line. Third-inning pitcher Julia Greensfelder led a last-inning charge for the Lucky Charms, snagging a fly ball for the out and blasting a line drive into right field at her last at bat. RBIs from Campbell, Radkey, and Rusin also boosted the Lucky Charms' late rally.

Spring was in the air at Longfellow Field. The Diamonds hit strongly throughout the entire game, highlighted by Dylan Kurzer-Ogul's strong bat ( a triple and two doubles). Teammate Sierra Jimenez also got a double and made fine fielding plays, including a snag on a sharply-hit ball to get the final out in the third. Amelia Galbraith caught a fly ball in the 2nd inning, and Hannah Murray, Imanie Parissa and Anna Reed hit and fielded well throughout the game. The Diamonds' explosive 4th inning featured many hits and runs. The Retriever's Robyn Wampler caught a ball for an out at first and Isabel Lavror made some good plays as catcher. Robin Cohin hit hard but Erin Shurtz fielded the ball to hold Sierra at first for the out. Isabel hit a solid double in the 4th inning to keep the Retriever's alive, and Robin, too, had a nice hit. The Diamonds' Evie Malanut had some good hitting, including a solid hit up the middle in the 4th and fielded two in a row at third base for outs in the third inning. The Retriever's Zia Paiz hit a double in the second inning and made a great fielding play on the mound. Briahna Jackson hit hard up the middle in the 4th to keep the Retriever's alive. However, it wasn't enough to catch the Diamonds.

The Beagles got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning, scoring three runs on solid hits by Isabel Daniels, Maddy Bernard and Catey Hoehn. The Duckies' pitcher Lila Jensen remained unshaken however and proceeded to strike out the side. This performance set the tone for a scoreless pitching duel until the third inning when the Beagles scored a lone run on a big hit by Iona Tangri. The Duckies came right back and broke thru for two runs of their own, including an RBI single by Sophia Schneider, and then held the Beagles scoreless. Behind by two runs in their last at bat, the determined Duckies staged an explosive rally sparked by Hana Minsky's hard hit double, steal of third base and sliding score at the plate on Julia Cooke's single. The exciting come-from-behind victory was sealed for the Devil Duckies when Matty Stoddart-Cone hit a booming double to knock in the winning run.

It was a close game until the Killer Bunnies broke the game open in the last inning. Lila Simpson doubled, stole third, and scored on Graham Griffin's double. Graham stole third and scored on Sarah Tiffin's single. Avery Evans knocked in two runs with a triple. Earlier in the game, Avery hit a strong single that almost got through the infield for extra bases. Graham singled and stole third, and struck out four batters; Lila singled, stole third, and scored, while also palying well at pitcher, first base, and left field. The Screamers may have lost to the Bunnies on Saturday, but they never gave up. They pulled ahead in the second inning, 2-1, before leaving three runners on base in the third, fourth, and fifth. The Screamers proved their pitching mettle when no fewer than three teammates recorded strikeouts, and both Megan Foley and Roxanne Wiblin struck out two hitters. While Sarah Quady--who is new to pitching this year--struck out three hitters (Go Soup!). Roxanne Wiblin, Hannah Feiner, Sophie Andrews, and Megan Foley all recorded hits, while Ariana Nevarez knocked in a couple of runs. Finally, there was some great fielding, especially by Hannah Feiner, who looked like a pro when she caught the ball and hustled to get it to her teammate at first base, and by Megan Foley who made catching a flyball look easy.

This was a well-matched, well-played game, as both teams got back into the swing of things following last Saturday's Bat-A-Que. The Pumas' Brett Altshuler and Julia Sparer helped get their team off to a good start, with solid singles early on, resulting in the first run of the game. Great pitching by Pumas' Alejandra Zeiger and Cielo Franco, which held the Tree Frogs scoreless in those first innings, was met with more of the same by Tree Frogs' pitchers Maite Ibanez de Garayo and Imani Hiller-Bateau. The Tree Frogs then leapt into the lead following strong hits by Julia "Tiger" Shebek, Imani Hiller-Bateau, and Maite Ibanez de Garayo, as well as the base hits by Sierra Lee and Kennedy Grant that knocked in three for the Tree Frogs. Despite more solid hitting by the Pumas, including a hard-hit single by Emily Wert, ultimately the Tree Frogs were able to hold onto their two-run lead for a well-deserved win.

Great batting all around defined the game. Molly Cohen had her best game of the season for the Oxykleen, with two triples, a double and a single to move seven runners across. On defense, Molly snagged a hot grounder at third and made the throw to Cassidy Villeneuve to retire a runner. Goonies' Rachel Burns hit two balls for left for triples. Rio Barrere-Cain smacked a hard grounder past short for a single. On defense, Rio at second and Claire Shellen made two of three outs in the fourth inning. Oxykleen Cassidy pitched a scoreless inning in the second, and Boothe Carlson followed her example, putting three away in the fourth and stranding two baserunners. Goonies' catcher Hannah Herman did her best at keeping runners from stealing home, but it was not enough.

On this pleasant Saturday afternoon, these two teams played a close game from the first to the last inning, as both teams produced plenty of great batting and base stealing. In the bottom of the first inning the Possums' Meg McCabe hit a single to advance Mattie Salem to second base. They both stole, and came home when Jillian Jenkins hit a deep triple down the third base line. We were all impressed with the great teamwork of the Rockin' Shockin' Cherry Blossoms, as Alyssa Kurtz, in right field, quickly retrieved a ball and threw it to Mattie at shortstop who quickly tossed it to Tamara Degen-Nosek to tag out the runner at third. The Zonta offense was led by Clair Simpson's double and Nora Killian's solid hits, and the strong running of Annie Wanles and Sarah Lake. The Fried Chicken Taco defense was led by the teamwork of Julie Moorad and Rebbecca Guba. They were ahead,12-8, at the top of the last inning, but the power hitting of the Rockin' Shockin' Cherry Blossom Possums came back in the bottom of the fifth inning to score five more and win the game.
